| DESCRIPTION | This is an auditory version of the Glimpses into Glendale’s Past videotape. An interview by Thelma Heatwole prepared in connection with the 75th Anniversary celebration of Glendale’s incorporation. It features Lacey Wellington Bennett, the son of Glendale’s first Mayor. Archie Wellington Bennett, became Mayor in 1910, prior to Arizona Statehood. His father owned the livery stable in downtown Glendale and supplied the whole town with water from his well and storage tank. His family later built and ran the Glennwood Hotel, in downtown Glendale. Lacey remembers fishing in the Salt River to provide fresh fish for the hotel.
