Grass Valley
Sam the notes you pay off have credited in full and you keep them until I
return.
The place to which I am going is about 35 miles from here.
I heard from Bro Dehavens last week. Jehial writes that they are not
satisfied and are going to cross the plains next Season to the Atlantic side he
wants to know if I have any notion of going. I shall tell him not. I have no idea of
going that soon unless Pike’s Peak is “wand”
Sam tell my correspondents as far as you know ( I don’t expect you to tell
the girls) to direct their letters to WP Jones, Virginia California, from this on as I
shall not be in reach of Grass Valley I regret leaving Grass Valley for I have
some good and true friends here. I hope all are well at home. I read a letter from
JL the other day and as my thumb is yet sore I shall not answer it for a few days
as I want to write him a long letter.
I don’t get any letters from Bro George now atall I have not heard from
him since the first of March I believe. ask him what is the matter tell him I know
he receives letters from me
The weather is beginning to get cool up here. Political excitement is up
Sam write to me sune when you receive this as I shall be anxious to learn
from home also if you are defeated or Elected.
I shall send a check on a Bank in St Louis and you will have to let some of
the merchants have it.
I am in good health well satisfied also in fine spirits.
I hope all are doing well at home.
Fail not to write
Yours_______
WP Jones
I don’t touch old bust head. I shall join the Good Templars tomorrow
night if nothing happens. I have not tasted spirits in several months im done.
