The Gila County Historical Society was founded in 1955 in order to study, collect, preserve and disseminate the history of Gila County. Its non-profit all-volunteer museum is located in Globe on Highway 60, in the former Globe-Miami Mine Rescue Station that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Admission is free, but donations are always appreciated. Except for holidays, the museum is open Monday through Friday 10 am to 4 pm and on Saturdays from 11 am to 3 pm throughout the year.
