Scottsdale Remembers - Recollections of Our Past
Today Scottsdale is a beautiful bustling city with many attractions enjoyed by residents and tourists alike. But did you know, that the town began as a little farming settlement? Many active community organizations worked to create the Scottsdale of today and as the town grew, some worked to preserve its past.
The Scottsdale Historical Society formed in 1968 to save the community’s history and significant old buildings.
The Scottsdale Jaycees volunteered on many fronts but their most important event was the Parada del Sol parade and rodeo which became a town tradition in the early 1950s.
The Scottsdale Charros have hosted spring training and baseball in Scottsdale since the early 1960s, providing fun and entertainment for residents and visitors, and profit for local businesses.
