Mesa Community College began as an extension campus of Phoenix College in 1963 and was formally established on April 12, 1965. On September 9, 1999 the Mesa Community College's Paul A. Elsner Library and High Technology Complex was dedicated to ex-Chancellor Dr. Paul A. Elsner. Dr. Elsner served Maricopa Community Colleges District for 22 years.
The Mesa Community College archival collection is housed within the Paul A. Elsner Library. Items in the collection were primarily donated by past administrators, faculty, staff, students and community members.
