DESCRIPTION	E. O. Brown moved from Janesville, Wisconsin to Scottsdale in 1904 to help his sister-in-law Sarah Coldwell Thomas run the General Store and Post Office she had purchased from its founding owner J. L. Davis. Brown enlarged the store, which was located on the southwest corner of Main Street and Brown Avenue (named in his honor), adding an ice plant in the 1920s when evaporative cooling became available. He and partners also opened the Farmer's State Bank, Scottsdale's first bank, in 1921, on the north side of the general store (shown in far right of the photograph). The general store closed in the mid-1930s, was refurbished as the Arizona Craftsmen Center to showcase working artists in 1946, then burned down in 1950. The bank closed in 1933 during the Great Depression, was used for various commercial purposes during the 1940s, then became the Rusty Spur Saloon in the 1950s.
