Rodgers, Director 801 East Jefferson, Phoenix AZ 85034 PO Box 25520, Phoenix AZ 85002 Phone 602- 417- 4000 www. azahcccs. gov Laws 2006, Chapter 191, requires aU applicants to provide documentation to verify immigration status in order to qualify for Arizona Cost Containment System ( AHCCCS) services. Accordingly, AHCCCS is required to report on its collection and verification of documentation submitted in accordance with this law. Pursuant to A. R. S. 36- 2903.03, please find the following summary of AHCCCS citizenship verification activities for the quarter from July 1, 2008 thru September 30, 2008. The Department of Economic Security ( DES) is responsible for making the eligibility determinations for over 75% of the AHCCCS population. For this reason, it is important to recognize that DES conducts the vast majority of all immigration verifications on behalf of AHCCCS. Thus, the number of individuals for whom AHCCCS, in conjunction with DES, has verified immigration status using the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements ( SAVE) program can be found below. Please note that during the July- September quarter, AHCCCS and DES did not identify any fraudulent documents utilizing the SAVE program. AHCCCS DES Total July 1096 July 5092 July 6188 August 1144 August 5032 August 6176 September 1144 September 5035 September 6179 TOTAL 3384 TOTAL 15,159 TOTAL 18,543 From July 2008 through September 2008, there were three citizens referred for prosecution. These individuals were referred for Fraudulent Schemes and Artifices. There were no substantiated allegations of non- citizens fraudulently applying for AHCCCS benefits, thus zero non- citizens were referred for prosecution.
