The oaths of the officers-elect were subscribed and sworn to before V. E. Messenger, Notary Public.
Mayor A. W. Bennett called the Council to order.
Present: Mr. Mayor; Councilmen, John Marks, C. L. Gillett, J. H. Tuckey, J. D. Garber.
Ordinance No. 2, appointive officers, was read and passed by call of the yeas and nays as follows:
Mr. Mayor – yea; Marks, yea; Gillett, yea; Tuckey, yea; Garber, yea.
On motion of Gillett, V.E. Messinger was elected Town Clerk and Ex-officia Assessor and Tax collector.
On motion of Gillett, W. H. Slaughter was elected Treasurer.
For Town Marshall, Gillett nominated M. R. Wells and Marks nominated J. A. Rudd. A ballot being taken Wells received 4 votes and Rudd 1, Wells being declared elected.
For Police Judge, Gillett nominated J. W. Kimber and Marks nominated J. G. Hammels. On ballot Kimber received 3 votes and Hammels 2, Kimber being declared elected.
Gillett moved that Town Attorney be instructed to draw up an ordinance closing all merchandise stores on Sundays. Last
