Designation of Williams Gateway Airport as a Military Reuse Zone
[Williams Gateway Airport was closed on September 30, 1993 pursuant to the Defense Base Closure and Realignment Act of 1990 (P.L. 101-510) and leased (Lease No.: BCA-OLS-015) from the U.S. Air Force in January 1996. A portion of Williams Gateway Airport was designated as a Military Reuse Zone by Executive Order 96-12 on August 2, 1996 and this designation was renewed for five years by Executive Order 2001-14 on July 23, 2001. In an October 6, 2006 letter, the Director of the Arizona Dept. of Commerce requested that the Military Reuse Zone designation be renewed for a period of ten years. Pursuant to A.R.S. § 41-1531, the portion of Williams Air Force Base which was] described in the quitclaim deed executed on the 14th of April 1998 and recorded in Maricopa County on the 30th of April 1998 [was designated as a Military Reuse Zone to facilitate state and local economic readjustment efforts and the designation is to be terminated after ten years from the date of this designation.]
