DESCRIPTION	This wire was sent on August 24, 1937 to George Locke, City Councilman alerting him of the release of $4909 in grant money and a loan of $6000 from the federal government to expand the Glendale Public Library which was in very poor condition. The telegram was sent by Senator Carl Hayden who served as an Arizona Senator in the 1930's. A Glendale high school was later named after Carl Hayden.

Full Text	Pleased to advise President today approved allotment of public works administration funds to construct Glendale Public Library Amount of grant is forty nine hundred and nine dollars ($4909) amount of loan six thousand dollars ($6000) These funds will be immediately released under terms of public works amendment which I was successful in having added to recent relief appropriation bill
