Regular October Meeting
October 10, 1939.
Regular October meeting called to order by Dr. Biddle in the Southern Pacific Sanatorium, at 8:10 P.M.
Mrs. O'Dowd introduced Miss Tarts, the visiting Red Cross nurse who explained the work proposed by the Red Cross. Mrs. O'Dowd requested that the President appoint three physicians as an advisory committee. Doctors H.W. Kohl, C.S. Kibler, Clyde Flood, V.G. Presson and Vivian Tappan were appointed.
Reading of minutes of previous meeting read and approved.
New members accepted into membership:
Dr. B.M. Berger, Dr. D.J. Condon, Dr. J.D. Francis, Dr. W.B. Steen and Dr. Boris
Zemsky.
Dr. R.K. Smith reported on his activities as a member of the Sunshine Climate Club in working out a plan for collecting a specified sum from the doctors in the Medical Society.
Dr. Flood moved, and seconded, that the County Medical Society withdraw their agreement with the Sunshine Climate Club. Discussions by Doctors Carrel, Davison and Davis. Dr. Webster seconded the motion but lost.
Next meeting was set for November first instead of the regular date.
Dr. Davis motioned that Dr. Biddle appoint a committee of two others and himself to draw up an autopsy bill for the legislature. Motion was seconded and passed.
Dr. Davison moved and motion was seconded that Pima County Medical Society sponsor movement to State Medical Association to control sale of barbiturates. Dr. Holbrook said to get the druggists' cooperation. Motion carried.
The scientific program consisted of two papers: one by Dr. S.C. Davis on "Tuberculosis in the Aged;" and another by Doctors A.L. Lindberg and Dr. J.A. Oliver on "Rapid Cultivation on Tubercular Bacilli."
