RESOLUTION
WHEREAS
The Pima County Medical Society is, and should be the guardian of the health of the citizens of Tucson, and
WHEREAS
It is evident not only to the members of this Society but to the public at large that there is a great laxity in the enforcement of existing ordinances pertaining to public health matters in Tucson, and
WHEREAS
Such practices as expectorating in the streets, in gutters and on the sidewalks have been flagrant; and the lack of protection of foodstuffs in kitchens, restaurants, lunch counters, markets etc. against lies; the lack of proper protection to the garbage and refuse trucks and the lack of frequent flushing or sweeping of the downtown pavements in order to secure adequate cleanliness have been glaring, and
WHEREAS
These practices are not only unsanitary and dangerous to public health but are also unsightly and are detrimental to the reputation of Tucson as a health center and vacationland, now, and therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED
That Pima County Medical Society does hereby recommend to the Honorable Mayor and the Council of Tucson that existing ordinances be enforced and necessary additional ordinances adopted, or other necessary action undertaken, that cleanliness standard of the City may be raised and the health of the citizens of and visitors to Tucson be thereby protected.
