Regular November Meeting
November 12, 1940.
Meeting called to order by President Dr. Kohl, at 8:00 P.M., in the Varsity Room of the Pioneer Hotel, November 12th. Minutes of previous meeting read and approved.
Miss Torrence read a report on the work of the Red Cross during the past year and asked that the doctors continue to call upon the Red Cross for their services.
Dr. Kohl reported on the Doctors' assignments in the conscription examinations.
Dr. Thomas reported on the arrangements for the coming meeting of the Southwestern Medical Association.
Reports of the following Committee were given:
Program Committee--no report, due to Dr. Kibler's absence.
Scientific Program Committee--report by Dr. Mikell.
Reception Committee--report by Dr. Clyne.
Hotel Arrangements Committee--report by Dr. Littlefield.
Commercial Exhibits Committee--report by Dr. Kohl.
Entertainments Committee--report given by Dr. Presson, in absence of Dr.
Rudolph
Publicity Committee-report given by Dr. Hill.
Program Editing Committee--report by Dr. Smith.
A letter from the Board of Medical Examiners regarding the status of internes [ interns ] was read.
A letter from the State Medical Association regarding meetings for discussing industrial relations was read. Dr. Hastings moved that the Society approve a meeting on industrial relations and the president appoint a Committee to act on this. Discussion by Doctors Thomas and Patterson. Dr. Kohl appointed the Program Committee to work on this proposal.
A letter from the Arizona Children's Home was read.
A letter from the Y.W.C.A. was read.
Dr. Gotthelf reported that no action had been taken on the applications for membership and these would be considered by the next meeting.
Dr. Kohl brought up the question of office hours on Saturday afternoon. Discussion by Doctors Mikell, Dan Mahoney, Van Horn, Presson, Thompson and Carrell. Motion made by Dr. Presson and seconded by Dr. Lyon, that the members of the Society officially close their offices on Saturday afternoon was defeated.
Dr. Hill brought up the suggestion that the Society's books be audited and that a system of bookkeeping be set up by an auditor. Dr. Hill made a motion to that effect; Dr. Thompson seconded it, passed.
