Regular Meeting
April 8, 1941.
Meeting called to order by Dr. Carrell.
Mr. Roy Drachman was introduced to report on the Sunshine Climate Club. Discussion followed by Dr. Biddle and Dr. Smith. Dr. Secrist moved that the Society be given four or five days to solicit those doctors that had not paid and then the amount necessary to make the total of One Thousand contribution for the Society be prorated and assessed to all the members of the Society. Motion seconded by Dr. Patterson, Dr. Littlefield moved that the assessment be dropped from the original motion; accepted by Dr. Patterson, Dr. Secrist providing that Dr. Littlefield be on the Committee to collect. Motion carried.
Dr. Biddle moved that in the future the membership be assessed equally to subscribe One Thousand Dollars annually to the Sunshine Climate Club. Seconded by Dr. Holbrook; motion carried.
Minutes approved.
Dr. Closson then reported for the Obstetrics Committee on the establishment of the pre-natal clinics and maternity service. Dr. Closson moved that the maternal health plan be sanctioned by the Pima County Medical Society. Seconded by Dr. Patterson. Dr. Holbrook suggested an amendment: that the Clinic be run under the auspices of the Society. Accepted by Dr. Closson. Motion carried.
Dr. Wiggin's [ Wiggins' ] name for membership was read and approved unanimously.
A letter from Dr. W.W. Watkins, State Secretary, was read in which he stated that Pima County was entitled to an extra delegate since its membership was over ninety; also that since Dr. Holbrook already belonged to the House of Councillors, a substitute alternate be named in his place.
Dr. Kohl moved that our Society instruct the delegates to the State Society to vote for the new plan of selection of delegates; i.e., that each County Society have two delegates with an extra for every fifty members. Seconded by Drs. Biddle and Holbrook. Motion carried.
Dr. C.C. Craig of Phoenix was then introduced to present the problem of a proposed referendum on the Osteopathic Bill passed by the last State Legislature. Dr. Mahoney, as Councilor for the Southern District of the Arizona State Medical Association, presented to the Society the Charter dated December 28th, 1940.
Dr. Roy Hewitt announced that the Industrial Commission was not here to give the program arranged and Dr. Hewitt showed a film on "Amoebiasis."
