Regular Meeting--
October 7, 1941.
Minutes of previous meeting were read and approved.
Dr. Carrell read a report of Dr. Biddle's on collections for the Sunshine Climate Club, stating that a net of Nine Hundred and Seventy Dollars ($970.00) had been collected and turned over to the Sunshine Climate Club. Dr. Carrell also reminded the members of the assessment for the coming year, and in the absence of objection, the assessment will be added to the dues.
Dr. Carrell read the names of those approved by the Board of Censors. The applicants were Dr. Darrell E. Hayhurst, Dr. N.K. Thomas and Lt. Allan T. Wilson, Med. Res. Dr. Kohl moved, seconded by Dr. Francis, that applicants be accepted. Motion carried.
Dr. Hill read a communication from the Calexico Chamber of Commerce regarding a meeting to be held in Tucson on October 12th, at noon in the Santa Rita Hotel. Dr. Littlefield moved that a Committee be appointed to meet above group. Dr. Holbrook suggested that the Committee communicate with the Medical Defense Committee of the State. Seconded by Dr. Patterson. Dr. Carrell appointed Dr. J.B. Littlefield, Dr. W.P. Holbrook, Dr. L.H. Howard and Dr. Donald R. Hill.
From the Arizona Society of Technicians a communication was read asking for the Society's support. Communications from the Tucson United Appeal and the Tucson Garden Club were read. No discussions.
Dr. Carrell announced that Frank R. Williams had been appointed as Director of Health Education and was scheduled to speak here but could not at this time. Dr. Howard explained that the program was started principally with courses for teachers and wished the cooperation of The Pima County Medical Society.
Dr. Biddle moved that the Society pay the balance of Thirty Dollars ($30.00) explained that the Society did not have that amount available in the General Fund but did have sufficient in the Convention Fund. Motion passed.
Dr. Carrell then opened the scientific program introducing Dr. Dozois who presented Dr. Norman Plummer's "Film on Pneumonia."
