Regular Meeting
December 14, 1943.
The regular December meeting of Pima County Medical Society was held December 14th, in the Fiesta Room of the Santa Rita Hotel. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Dr. Presson called upon Rev. Ferguson speak to the Society about the Tucson Medical Center. Rev. Ferguson answered questions and made a request that the doctors appoint a committee to solicit the doctors for their contributions. Rev. Ferguson was thanked for presenting this problem to us. Discussion and business meeting was deferred until after the scientific program given by members of the Davis Monthan Air Base Hospital.
In the absence of Major A. Harry Neffson, Capt. Joseph [ handwritten: Hanelin ] gave a paper on "Auxiliary Thrombosis", presenting x-ray venograms and a patient. General discussion and questions followed.
The second paper was given by Major Chas. F. Sweigert entitled "Coccidiomycosis [ coccidioidomycosis ] in Military Personnel." The experience and incidence in this and other areas was given and he pointed out that the disease is endemic in this area. General discussion followed.
The business meeting was opened with the reading of a letter from the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis regarding the facilities. Available in Phoenix for handling of the disease.
Dr. Presson asked for suggestions for the Committee for obtaining funds for the Tucson Medical Center. With no suggestions made, Dr. Presson passed the appointment of this committee to the incoming president.

The Secretary reported that he had received copies of the laws governing the practice of osteopaths, naturopaths.
