1944, continued.
The regular business meeting was opened.
It was moved by Dr. Davis, seconded by Dr. Bloom, that Dr. Bernfeld be accepted to the Society. Motion carried.
Dr. Hayden read a report by the Nurses Association outlining the cost of running the nurses registry and soliciting help from the Society in raising Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) that they need. Dr. Vernon Mahoney stated the felt this was a problem for the nurses. Doctors Kibler, Bloom and Biddle discussed the problem. Dr. Biddle moved that the Society was not in a position at this time to offer financial aid. Motion seconded by Dr. Townsend. Carried.
Dr. Hill reported that Col. Rich would like authorization from the Society to allow Davis-Monthan doctors to consult with physicians in Tucson. It was moved by Dr. Kibler, and seconded by Dr. Bloom that the Secretary write such a letter.
Dr. Lindberg moved and Dr. Gotthelf seconded the motion that laymen be excluded from the meetings of the Society unless asked by the President of the Society. Motion carried.
Dr. Rudolph asked to be removed from the Tucson Medical Center Facility Committee as a Urologist. Dr. Hayden then appointed him to the Committee as a Surgeon.
The scientific program was conducted by Dr. Lindberg giving a paper on "Cancer work in Tucson."
