Special Meeting
August 21, 1945.
Meeting called to order by Dr. Lindberg, president to discuss medical plans and other business.
It was decided to dispense with reading of the minutes of the previous meeting. Dr. Lindberg called upon Dr. Clyne to report on the progress of the state Committee. He explained a survey of State doctors had been made but no definite action had been taken. He then introduced Kitty Coleman, secretary for the State Association, to report on her survey of the plans for medical service plans [ "plans" crossed out ] in other States.
Miss Coleman explained in detail the methods several States use giving their advantages and faults. She suggested that at present we should endorse state Legislation to permit the development of a medical service plan in Arizona. She pointed out that the Council for the state Association was to meet soon and further consider these plans. Additional plans are to be made for further publicity in the newspapers and on the radio. She suggested that the County Society appoint a Committee to work with the State Committee. The report of the survey of the Arizona Doctors revealed that most of them wanted some type of medical service plan. Dr. Mahoney asked Miss Coleman to submit a written report on her investigations and make recommendations.
Question of the local health situation was brought to the attention of the Society and the president was asked to increase the number on the Public Health Committee to consider a report on the situation.
A motion was made by Dr. Kibler and seconded that the Pima County Medical Society ask the Council for the State Association to make formal request for discharge and return of Arizona doctors now in service.
Meeting adjourned.
