Dues: The dues of the associate members shall be one-half the dues of active members of this Society in addition to that amount required by the State Association for this class of membership.
Section 5. Affiliate Members
Affiliate members shall be those physicians residing in this county (a) who through disability are unable to engage in the active practice of medicine, (b) who have retired from the practice of medicine, but who have been active members up to the time they applied for affiliate membership, or (c) those members of the Society who have left active practice to engage in postgraduate work for a period of six months or longer, and members who have gone into the armed forces, provided that such member in any of these classes shall have firs been declared an affiliate member of this Society at its regular meeting, such action having been recommended by the Board of Directors, and provided further that such affiliate membership shall automatically cease and revert to its previous active status upon the termination of the disability and upon resumption of active practice.
Rights: Affiliate members shall not pay dues, and shall not have the right to vote or hold office, but shall receive the official State Medical Journal provided the Society remits for the same. They shall not share in Medical Defense.
Section 6. Honorary Members
The Board of Directors may recommend to this Society the election as honorary members any Doctors of Medicine distinguished for their services or attainments, or those in the field of public health, or who have contributed outstanding services in research or other scientific work.
Rights: Honorary members shall not pay dues, and shall not have the right to vote and hold office or to share in Medical Defense, but shall receive the official Journal of the State Medical Association upon authorization by the Board of Directors. Members of the Fifty Year Club shall have all rights provided in the By-Laws of the State Association.
CHAPTER V--POWERS AND DUTIES
Section 1. This Society shall have general direction of the affairs of the medical profession of the county, and its influence shall be constantly exerted to better the scientific, material and social condition of every physician within its jurisdiction.
