The meeting was called to order by the President, Dr. Harry Thompson.
The Minutes of the previous Board of Directors meeting were read by the Secretary, Dr. William B. Steen, and approved as read. Reading of the Minutes of the previous Regular Meeting was dispensed with.
The President called for the Censor's report which was given by Dr. Hewitt. He stated that since the last meeting the three members of the Board of Censors had talked with Dr. Gatti personally, and that a letter from Dr. Gatti is on file in which he maintains that he brought the plasma in question with him from Wisconsin. It was given as the recommendation of the Board of Censors that this matter be now dropped and the charges dismissed. Dr. Hayden stated that it was the thought of the Board of Censors that this individual had profited by the investigation, and he recommended that the matter be dropped. Dr. Hugh Thompson moved that the Board of Censor's report and recommendation be accepted. Motion was seconded by Dr. Kohl and carried.
The case of Perrine vs. Doctors Williams and Hill remains unsettled. Dr. Hewitt stated that he thought the Board of Directors should lend some attention to the possibility of trouble within our own outfit, and that the Board of Censors has no recommendations at this time. Dr. Hayden added that he felt the Board of Directors should be told that there is correspondence which has not been very productive of results as yet. Dr. Hugh Thompson questioned whether the Board of Directors might expect some kind of report from the Board of Censors on this matter, since it seemed to him to be rather unfair to the other doctors to leave it with nothing done about it. Dr. Hewitt replied that the Board of Censors would welcome comments or criticisms. The President asked for a motion on this matter, and since none was forthcoming, the matter was tabled.
Dr. Shoun reported for the Central Residency Committee that Dr. Goodhart had been in Tucson and had been presented with the local residency problem. The Central Residency Committee is now awaiting Dr. Goodhart's report.
Dr. Kohl reported that he had presented the problem of nurses who are not members of the Arizona Nurses Association at St. Mary's Hospital, and that Sister Mary Francis will look into the matter. The point was made that the nurses who are hired on general duty by the month do not earn as much as those who are on private duty, and the suggestion made of the possibility of an adjustment. Dr. Farness will present this matter at Tucson Medical Center.
