REGULAR MEETING
March 14, 1950.
The regular meeting was held in the Varsity Room of the Pioneer Hotel, and was called to order at 8: P.M. by the President, Dr. Hugh C. Thompson.
Minutes of the previous meetings were read by Dr. William B. Steen, Secretary, and were approved.
Dr. Paul G. Hattersley, of San Francisco, California, was introduced by Dr. George Hartman. Dr. Hattersley spoke on "The Rh Factor."
Dr. Tracey J. Putnam , Chief of the Department of Neurosurgery at Cedars of Lebanon Hospital, Beverly Hills, California, was introduced by Dr. Titsche [ Titche ? ], and spoke on "Operative Treatment of Paralysis Agitans and other Dyskenesias." [ dyskinesias ]
Dr. Stacey announced that the actual collecting of funds among the doctors in connection with the Red Cross Drive was being done by some fifteen members of the Women's Auxiliary, who have taken to each office an envelope with a pledge card. He stated that unhappily some of these women had been treated discourteously, and requested the same consideration as each man would like his own wife to be shown, in the same circumstances. Dr. Stacey announced that the local Red Cross Blood Bank had processed seven thousand pints of blood which were given free by the Blood Bank. Next year the estimated need is for ten thousand pints to meet the local demand. This has been financed by the Red Cross, which contributed $60,000 from the national funds. He estimates that the ten thousand pints will cost approximately a quarter million dollars, and asked that everyone fill out the pledge card and have it ready to be picked up next time he is called upon.
Dr. Hugh Thompson announced that the Cerebral Palsy Foundation of Southern Arizona had asked the Pima County Medical Society to help oversee care for the children who come under this program, and that a committee has been appointed to help in this connection. The committee is as follows:
