Regular Meeting, October 10, 1950--Page 2
Dr. Fraser seconded this motion. Dr. Harry Thompson said that he considered this idea rather startling, at least to him, but that he thought it worthy of consideration. He asked permission to make an amendment to the motion, that it be referred to the Board of Directors for discussion and be brought up again one month from this meeting. Dr. Palmer and Dr. Fraser accepted the amendment.
Dr. Hirsch asked for an explanation of this request and Dr. Palmer replied that in his connection with the University on one occasion there had been emergency calls for thirty-one doctors, before the game (football) had started. He stated that he could not check whether there had been thirty-one emergency calls in the city of Tucson that night, but that there had not been that many in the hospitals. He felt it was embarrassing to all doctors occasionally, even though all must expect emergency calls.
Dr. Palmer's motion was carried with Dr. Thompson's amendment.
Dr. Kohl announced that Major Stallings, Adjutant of the local National Guard Regiment, had told him they are short one medical officer on their roster, and he would like applications from anyone who is interested.
Meeting adjourned.
