County Medical Society and from civilian practice in this county, be exempted from paying dues. Motion seconded by Dr. Farness and carried.
Announcement was made by the President that the Soroptomist [ Soroptimist ] Club has ordered an iron lung which will be presented to the community in the custody of the Pima County Medical Society. The Elks Club, who also intended to purchase an iron lung, are waiting to find out if there is anything else which they can give which will benefit the community. Dr. Harry Thompson moved that the Society approve this gift of the Soroptomists [ Soroptimist Club ], accept custody of the iron lung, with the provision that it be referred to the men who are doing polio work and an effort to be made to find out about latest models. Motion seconded by Dr. Farness and carried. Dr. Hayden moved that the Chair appoint a committee headed by Dr. Steen to investigate the matter of the Elks' contribution. Motion seconded by Dr. Lewis and carried.
Letter from Dr. Limbacher regarding the need of the Red Cross for instructors in First Aid and asking for volunteers from the Society was read.
It was suggested that it might be advantageous to have committees from both the medical society and the dental society meet to discuss fees between the two professions, but no action was taken.
Motion was made by Dr. Lewis, seconded by Dr. Hayden and carried, that no donation for Christmas decorations be made to the Chamber of Commerce, since many individual members have already donated.
Announcement of Venereal Disease Control Seminar to be held November 15th and 16th at the Adams Hotel in Phoenix was read, and is to be announced at the regular meeting.
Inquiry was made as to procedure to be followed at expiration of term membership. Letter is to be written each individual advising him to make application for full membership by letter.
Statement of accounts for October was accepted. It was moved by Dr. Harry Thompson, seconded by Dr. Hayden and carried that one thousand dollars be withdrawn from the Speaker's Fund and invested in a bond.
