Regular Meeting.
The regular meeting was held at Veterans Administration Hospital at their invitation, and was called to order at 8:15 P.M. by the President, Dr. Royal W. Rudolph.
Minutes of the regular meeting of April 10th and of the Board of Directors meeting of April 26th were read by the Secretary, Dr. William B. Steen. There being no corrections or addition, they were approved as read.
Dr. Hugh Thompson reported on the investigation of office space made by his committee, that Dr. Metzger's basement rooms had been rented already, abut that investigation of the old Methodist Church building at Euclid and Park Avenues [ Euclid Avenue and Third Street ] had revealed that it is believed that the Tucson Little Theatre may purchase this building. If this is so, they will rent space to organizations, and there is ample auditorium space for meetings, and for the Auxiliary to hold its meetings at the same time. Dr. Thompson said that he, Dr. Rudolph, Dr. Neubauer and Dr. Steen had looked the place over and talked with Mr. Goodard, and it had seemed to them that if office space and meeting space should be obtained for reasonable cost it would be a very good one. Dr. Thompson recommended, therefore, that the Society, if it approves, go on record as authorizing the Board of Directors, during the summer season if the opportunity should seem right to them, to acquire office space and arrange meetings in this building, and he so moved. Dr. Neubauer seconded the motion, and it was carried.
Doctors Neubauer and Welsh were appointed as tellers to count the votes for the proposed permanent membership of Dr. Henry G. Atha and Dr. Hiram D. Cochran, and whether or not to defer the permanent membership of Dr. Joseph Gertner due to incomplete sponsorship as recommended by the Board of Censors. By ballot, Doctors Atha and Cochran were unanimously elected to Permanent membership, and it was decided by the membership to defer that of Dr. Gertner as above.
The meeting was then turned over to Dr. Gaines by Dr. Rudolph, with an expression of thanks for his invitation to the Veterans Administration Hospital. Dr. Titche introduced the speaker, Dr. George C. Griffiths [ Griffith ], of the University of Southern California, who spoke on the "Hemodynamics of the Pulmonary Circulation". At the conclusion of the meeting the members of the Society were invited, with their ladies, for refreshments provided for them by their Veterans Administration Hospital colleagues.
