REGULAR MEETING
January 15th, 1952.
The regular meeting of the Pima County Medical Society was called to order at 8:10 P.M. by the President, Royal W. Rudolph, M.D.
Dr. Rudolph remarked that during the past year the committees had been very responsive, and the members a grand bunch with which to work; that he wanted to take this opportunity of thanking the committee chairmen and members, and especially the Secretary, Bill Steen. He stated that he felt some projects had been started which would be very worthwhile when they have materialized. Dr. Rudolph then turned the gavel and the meeting over to Dr. H.D. Cogswell, President for 1952.
Dr. Cogswell called for the reading of the Minutes of the Regular Meeting of December 11th, 1951. These were read by the Secretary, and approved as read.
Motion was made by Dr. Harry Thompson that the Minutes of the meeting of the Board of Directors of January 10th, 1952, be read after the scientific meeting. This motion was seconded and carried.
Dr. Arthur J. Present introduced the speaker, Dr. Leo J. [ G. ] Rigler, Professor of Radiology at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Rigler presented slides to illustrate his subject of "Roentgen Studies of the Liver by Hepatography and Cholangiography".
9:11 P.M. The President called for the reading of the Minutes of the Board of Directors meeting of January 10th, 1952. They were read by the Secretary. Motion was made, seconded and carried that the Minutes be approved as read.
Doctors Alfred O. Heldobler and Emmett P. Waddell having been recommended for Affiliate Membership; Doctors Sherwood P. Burr, Walter T. Hileman and C.S. O'Brien, having been approved by the Board of Censors for Permanent Membership; and Doctors Charles Robert Blake, Virginia M. Cobb, Frank Cohen, Thomas E. von Dedenroth and Edgar Rice Updegraff having been approved by the Board of Censors for Term Membership, they were put to the vote. The President appointed Doctors Arthur J. Present and Charles A.L. Stephens as Tellers, and the ballots having been examined, all the above named doctors were found to have been elected to their respective memberships as stated above.
A letter from Dr. Leon Titche concerning the lack of attendance of County Society members at the Veterans Administration Hospital was read by the Secretary, and the President invited comment. Combined meetings of the County Society and Veterans Hospital were suggested, because of the difficulty in getting men out two meetings a week to hear a speaker. Dr. Hewitt asked if it might not be possible to have the monthly meeting out there, since they usually have the same speaker a day previously and have a different subject. Dr. Beaton reminded the members that they have a meeting each week. Dr. Farness moved that the County Society hold it meetings at Veterans Hospital, as it has been invited to do. Dr. Harry Thompson moved an amendment to Dr. Farness' motion, that this matter be brought up again at the next Society meeting, if agreeable to Dr. Farness, since there are still arrangements to be made and a new chairman of the Program Committee who may have commitments. Amendment motion seconded by Dr. Kosanke. Amendment motion carried.
