BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING
January 29, 1952

Meeting was called to order at 8:05 P.M., by the President, Dr. Cogswell.

It was moved by Dr. Harry E. Thompson that reading of Minutes be dispensed with. Motion seconded by Dr. Manning and carried.
The President read a letter from the law firm of Krucker, Evans & Kemper, which is representing Dr. A.L. Lieberman. Motion was made by Dr. Hastings that it be referred to the Board of Censors. Motion seconded by Dr. Harry Thompson. After discussion, this motion was amended by Dr. Lesemann authorizing the Board of Censors to employ legal counsel. The amendment was seconded by Dr. Farness and carried. Dr. Hastings' motion, upon being put to vote, was carried. It was moved by Dr. Steen that the Society secure the services of Knapp, Boyle, Bilby & Thompson. Motion seconded by Dr. Manning, and carried.
The Secretary read a letter from Mr. William Wisdom, representative of the Continental Casualty Insurance Company, asking permission to appear in person to clarify details regarding their plan of accident and income insurance. Motion was made by Dr. Hewitt that Mr. Wisdom be advised that the Arizona Medical Association is considering an overall insurance plan, and that local action is being deferred. Motion seconded by Dr. Kent and carried.
The Secretary read a communication from the Arizona Medical Association advising that the Council disapproved of the Bill of the Medical Laboratory Technicians and had instructed the Chairman of the Legislation Committee to be governed accordings [ accordingly ? ], and to take whatever action is deemed necessary and advisable to oppose this enactment into law.
A letter from Dr. Lindberg concerning activities of Stanley Marcus was read by the Secretary. This matter has been referred to the State Board of Medical Examiners and is being investigated.
The matter of appointing a representative for Pima County Medical Society to the State Committee on Conservation of Hearing was discussed. It was moved by Dr. Harry Thompson that this be left up to the usual Presidential appointment. Motion was seconded by Dr. Kent and carried.
