Dr. Hill--If we are going to have it here, let's have it at the Arizona Inn, and really put on a show.
Dr. Kent--Who would pay for it?
Dr. Steen--What did it cost the group at Albuquerque?
Dr. Kohl--I do not know, but they did not come out in the red.
Dr. Steen--If you charged the boys here the registration of $15.00 it would come out close to $3,000.00.
Dr. Kohl--They have as big or bigger a membership as ours. We will have a committee for exhibits, too.
Dr. Harry Thompson--Do you have any idea what we could get from exhibitors?
Dr. Rudolph--How many registered at the meeting?
Dr. Kohl--Over a hundred from outside of Albuquerque.
Dr. Hill--Arizona Inn would give us a much more beautiful place.
Dr. Kohl--What we are trying to do is line up the possibilities. According to the Chamber of Commerce, any circulars we send out won't cost us anything.
Dr. Manning--Should the meeting go in the red, who makes up the deficit?
Dr. Kohl--I do not think it would go in the red. The dinner and dance was over and above the cost of the speakers and the cost of the registration.
Dr. Manning--What you want is a vote of confidence plus assurance that the boys will vote the $15.00 registration?
Dr. Kohl--We want to know we are going to be backed up before we make plans.
Dr. Rudolph--Does the County Society underwrite it?
Dr. Kohl--They did up there, put on a mandatory assessment.
Dr. Harry Thompson--I think it ought to be supported because the ones I have attended have been absolutely the best meetings we have had in Arizona or any place else.
Dr. Manning--What sort of action to [ do ] you wan to take?
Dr. Kohl--1. Approve the action made by your past President and the plans for the meeting, and
2. Ask the Society to underwrite it, whether by assessment of otherwise.
I would think it would be better to do it this way so that some of our members do not feel that there is a lot of coercion--have the Society agree to make up any deficit which will occur by the registration of the Pima County members at the convention. Urge them to attend.
Dr. Manning--Would you be willing to come to the meeting Tuesday and discuss this then?
Dr. Kohl--I would be glad to. It will put the Society on official record, binding them to support it in case there is a deficit which would only come about by poor attendance on the part of the members of the Society--those who do not register would be bound to make up the deficit.
Dr. Hill--You have made no mention of how much deficit we would stand for. Why not take it before out Society and get the approval of 100% registration at $15.00, and we will guarantee the amount of registration at $15.00 for each member? Then we would know where we stand.
Dr. Kohl--They must understand that that amount does not include attendance at social functions. That would be very acceptable to us. I just felt that I would make this suggestion, as we only recently had an increase in dues.
Dr. Rudolph--I move that we recommend that the Society go on record as being willing to underwrite the thing up to $15.00 registration of 186 members, with the understanding that if it is less and there is any surplus left in the hands of the Committee, it will be returned to the Society.
Dr. Kohl--Southwestern has no money on hand.
Motion seconded by Dr. Hill and carried.
Dr. Hill--One other point. I am serious about considering the Arizona Inn and inquiring about that. You might have a better chance of getting more rooms under one roof.
Dr. Costin--I might say that the Southwestern Obs. & Gyne people had their meeting there, and they charged a flat rate on the American Plan which was
