Letter received from Dr. Kent Thayer, stating that the Southwest Blood Bank of Phoenix is being called upon to provide blood to private hospitals and the Veterans Administration Hospital in Tucson. He asked for an expression from the Society as to the advisability of continuing to do this, and if the Society would prefer the Southwest Blood Banks to open a branch in Tucson, and if so, whether members elected from the Society would serve on its Board of Directors. Letter received from the President of the Governing Board at the Pima County General Hospital, placing the problem of active participation in the hospital services by members of the County Society before the Board of Directors. This specifically referred to the failure of finding consecutive coverage in the department of anesthesia. After discussion, motion was made, seconded and carried that a letter be forwarded to each anesthesiologist calling attention to the fact that membership in the Pima County Medical Society implies responsibility towards the Pima County Hospital, and suggesting that in order to solve the problem each anesthesiologist be assigned anesthesia responsibility for one month at a time in rotation and that the Governing Board of the Pima County Hospital be asked to so handle the assignments. It was also to be indicated that such assignment is in no way to effect the status of the nurse anesthetist employed by the Pima County Hospital.
Report for the Hospital Building Committee was made by Dr. Manning, and a scrap book containing all the publicity and report information of the past year on this subject was presented by him.
