Dr. Lesemann inquired why the school system should not be held to the same system as the Industrial Commission; he thought the Board of Directors should recommend that the Industrial fee schedule be used and adhered to.
Dr. Hileman thought the Board should suggest a liberal insurance program which can be handled through the Industrial Commission.
The question was raised as to why this is liable when in a previous case the University was not held liable, and apparently other schools are not.
The President suggested that representatives of the Society talk with Mr. Gridley and endeavor to reach an understanding of this matter. He appointed Dr. Walter T. Hileman and Dr. Frederick J. Lesemann to do this.
United States Air Force Medical Service bulletin on "Career Facts for Physicians" was submitted.
Statement of Accounts for October, 1953, was submitted.
AAPS Essay Contest announcement was submitted. It was moved by Dr. Engle that the contest be disapproved for this Society for this school year. Motion was seconded by Dr. Kent and carried.
The matter of the Blue Cross--Blue Shield alternative contract with increased income limitations, involving 25% increase in Income limitation, fee schedule paid to participating physicians, and in the subscriber's dues, was presented by Dr. Clarence Kuhlman. He stated that he had not yet answered this questionnaire, and was interested in obtaining expression of opinion from other as to whether this idea is considered good or bad.
Dr. Bernstein objected to discussion of this matter, as the purpose of the questionnaire was to obtain individual expressions of opinion, both from physicians and subscribers.
It was ordered by the President that this subject be not discussed, as it is not a Society matter.
A provisional motion was made by Dr. L.E. Beaton, to be held pending action of the Medical Advisory Board of the Tucson Medical Center. This motion was seconded by Dr. Bernstein and carried.
Upon motion of Dr. Lindsay E. Beaton, the meeting was adjourned.
