Dr. Bernstein--Do they not mean for us to approve the pathologist? That is the rub as far as a member of our Society is concerned.
Dr. Harry Thompson--Do they mention any fee?
Dr. Hileman, reading from the report of the Coroner's Committee--"It is suggested that one pathologist be appointed, with two others as assistants. Satisfactory arrangements can be made with the County Supervisors regarding fees covering autopsies, investigations, and all necessary court appearances."
Dr. Harry Thompson--I move it be sent to the Supervisors, with our approval.
Dr. Fraser--I second the motion.
Dr. Engle--If there is some conflict about terminology, I suggest changing it to read correctly. Instead of Medical Examiners, make it "Coroner's Assistants, consisting of one Examiner and 2 assistants."
Dr. Hileman--The Coroners were present at the meeting at which this letter evolved.
Dr. Engle--I withdraw the suggestion.
The motion above, upon being put to vote, was carried.

Report of the Cancer Committee was submitted by Dr. R.H. Fuller, chairman, and was read by the Secretary. The Committee recommended--
a. Inasmuch as each patient presents a unique problem, that no standard (stereotyped method be used in detection of disease be adopted.
b. For the same reason, since each clue presented as the patient is examined should be diligently pursued, that no standard fee be adopted.
c. Because it would be unethical (and also probably illegal) that the names of patients suffering from cancer should not "confidentially" be reported to the Cancer Society.
d. That it be arranged , if possible, that the American Cancer Society discontinue the present (local) practice of making appointments for patients with doctors. It is felt that each individual should be advised by the Society to see his or her family physician or (lacking a family doctor) to call the office of the Pima County Medical Society for assistance in selecting a physician.
The President asked for comments on this report, and announced that the Cancer Committee had been enlarged by appointment of the following physicians:
Earl R. Baldwin
George Fraser
Hugh H. McFayden
Royal W. Rudolph
T.E.A. von Dedenroth
