DESCRIPTION	A very large, shallow, close coiled basketry bowl with a flat base; polychrome design is a "man-in-the-maze" pattern. Finish consists of a continuation of the design on to the rim coil. The maze is executed in unbleached yucca; the color varies from light gray to yellowish green. Maze layout is symmetrical, producing a single pathway and only one dead end. Anthropomorphic figure executed in devil's claw, located just under widened rim coil. Figure is highly simplified, with a rectangular head and feet; legs are short extensions from the lower part of the body and the arms are held out from the sides, extending downward from slightly wider shoulders. Coils are even, about 1.3 - 1.5 cm wide, and there are about 2 stitches per cm (6 stitches per inch). In places, the exterior of the basket shows more of the foundation bundle than the interior, but the stitches are for the most part well placed. A common design for O'odham basketry at this time, the maze is also used as the logo for the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community. The maze is said to represent the house of Elder Brother, and symbolizes a person's journey through life and search for balance.
