Summary of Arizona’s 2005 Legislative Session
The 47th Legislature – First Regular Session
The 47th legislative session came to an end at 1:25 am on April 12, 2005 after 123 days of work. The session ended thirteen days earlier then the 2004 legislative session, with the 1988 session still holding the record at 173 days, During that time, legislators filed 1,311 bills and passed 392 of them. However, the Governor made great use of her veto pen this session with a grand total of 58 bills being vetoed; only allowing 334 bills into law.
The House and Senate sent the Governor an $8.3 billion bi-partisan budget, which was a negotiated agreement between both legislative bodies and the Governor’s Office. The agreement came months after the first budget was vetoed by Go
