DESCRIPTION
The "Southwest Legacy " exhibit ran at the Tucson Museum of Art from January , 31-March 14 , 1976 . The exhibit was a comprehensive selection of paintings , sculptures , graphics , and crafts by internationally and nationally known western and American Indian artists . The Acoma , Apache , Hopi , Navajo , Papago , and Zuni cultures were represented and the tone of the exhibit was described as rich and romantic . The exhibit displayed approximately 100 works which spanned 1850-1950 and were loaned by private collectors , businesses , and museums throughout Arizona . Artists featured in the exhibit included realist Robert Henri , Taos School Painter Homer Boss , and landscapists Thomas Moran and Albert Bierstadt .
