He drew this at the request of his Dad (Bill Sr.) for use as a logo for the Silver Spur Guest Ranch. It was drawn at the ranch house of one of Ed and Lillian Riggs’ relatives on November 4th and 6th, 1945. Bud used his brother Bill’s spur as the model for the drawing. Bill Jr. had spurs cast at Frontier Bronze in Niagara Falls, New York, where Bill Sr.’s friend John Boeck was employed. Bill Jr. did all of the finishing and polishing as well as hand cutting the rowels. Bud’s original sketch was sent to the Tucson Photo Engraving Company (32 West Franklin Street, Tucson, Arizona) to be professionally redrawn in ink. This sketch is on paper, 15 x 13.5”, signed “Bud Monday Nov 4 1945 Wednesday Nov 6 1945”.
