Stratton opened the Trading Post in about 1942 on what was (and still is) the main street in Show Low, just down from Bill's Bar. Service was mainly a restaurant and gas station, but for a while there was also a small variety store and the Post Office operating there. The Strattons moved a building behind the store (where City Hall is now) and used it for a motel until it burned.
