She grew up on the Talwiwi Ranch, for which her father served as General Manager of for 20 years. Talwiwi Ranch was owned by Colonel Bumstead and located near Litchfield Road and Olive Streets, next door to Luke Air force Base. Mrs. Hunter talks about the adobe house her family lived in, working the ranch's grape crop, and some of the parties at and visitors to the ranch. She shares stories about her parents and siblings, what it was like growing up on a rural ranch, the schools she attended, and her college sorority. Martha McGeorge married Raymond Hunter (who was also interviewed as part of Capturing Arizona's Stories) in 1970 and they have three children. Mr. and Mrs. Hunter are very active in civic and charitable organizations. She has served on the Boards for the Phoenix Parks, Phoenix Zoo, Desert Botanical Garden, and others. Mrs. Hunter is active in the Junior League. While still in high school at Xavier she participated in the Save Camelback Mountain effort. She was selected as Woman of the Year in 1998.
