Description
Paul Messinger was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan and moved to Arizona with his family in 1942. He owns the Messinger Mortuary in Scottsdale, Arizona. Mr. Messinger talks about why he became a mortician and his work in the funeral service over the past 60 years. He has written a book called "Scottsdale Memories." Mr. Messinger was very active in local and state politics during the 1970s and 1980s. He was part of the committee that chose the site for the Scottsdale City Hall; on the board that helped create Scottsdale Community College; and served on the Scottsdale City Council from 1971-1976. Mr. Messinger talks about many of the Scottsdale Town Enrichment Projects (STEP) Committees. He discusses water rights and management in Scottsdale, including the Indian Bend Wash. Mr. Messinger served three terms in the Arizona State House of Representatives from 1979-1984.
