Description
Pedro E. Guerrero (1917-2012) grew up in Mesa, Arizona. In this interview he talks about growing up as a Latino in segregated Arizona and the prejudice he faced before and after integration. Mr. Guerrero talks about his family, especially his father, who started Rosarita Mexican Food. Mr. Guerrero served as a photo officer in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Later he would be outspoken against the Vietnam War while serving on a draft board in Connecticut. In 1939 Pedro Guerrero went to Taliesin West and introduced himself to Frank Lloyd Wright, who hired him as his photographer. Mr. Guerrero shares many stories of working with Wright, Alexander Calder and Louise Nevelson. During the 1960s he worked for "House and Garden" and shares a story of a photo shoot with Julia Child.
