Description
Sister Michael Wilson is a Dominican nun who moved to Arizona in 1972 to teach. In this interview, Wilson shares how spending her childhood and beginning her career as a teacher in Michigan helped prepare her for working in the West. Wilson relates some of her experiences from the 22 years she worked as a tutor in dormitories for Native American students attending school in Winslow. She discusses some of the cultural hurdles that the Native American students faced and how they were overcome and how the school district worked to incorporate and accept cultural diversity.
