At the age of three, Anna, her mother, and her siblings were taken away from their homes during the raid of Short Creek, Arizona. After eight years apart, Williams and her family were reunited. In this interview, Williams talks about growing up in Arizona within the Fundamentalist Latter-Day Saints community. She discusses the challenges of growing up in a polygamist community, as well as the advantages of the strong familial and communal bonds formed by living in a tight-knit group. Williams also notes the religious battles that have shaped her life, including a massive rift in her community, which forced Williams and many others to Centennial Park.Audio Length00:20:44Date Original2010-12-16Date Range1950s (1950-1959)1960s (1960-1969)1980s (1980-1989)1990s (1990-1999)2000s (2000-2009)TypeSound- NonmusicalOriginal FormatOral historiesLanguageEnglishContributing InstitutionState Archives- Arizona State Library, Archives and Public RecordsCollectionCapturing Arizona's StoriesRights StatementFrom the collection of the History and Archives Division, Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records.
