He is a specialist in Gastroenterology (digestive diseases). Dr. Kravetz first came to Phoenix in 1961 as part of Public Health to work at the Phoenix Indian Hospital for two years. He talks about the unique health concerns of Native Americans and some of cultural differences he witnessed. Dr. Kravetz returned to Phoenix in 1965 to open his practice across the street from Good Samaritan Hospital. He worked for a time at the Maricopa County Hospital where he helped establish the first alcohol rehabilitation unit in Arizona. Dr. Kravetz retired in 1999, though he still maintains an office at Phoenix Baptist Hospital and mentors and teaches medical students. He discusses the changes in medical care in Phoenix and in Arizona since the 1960s as well as the growth and changes he has witnessed in Phoenix.
