Alternate Place NameHorsehead CrossingDate Established1882Websitehttps://www.holbrookaz.gov/Description
First known as Horsehead Crossing, Holbrook was a major stopping point for travelers headed into the interior of the Arizona Territory. By the 1870's a small community emerged with a store and saloon run by a man named Frayde Berado at it's center. By 1881 the first set of train tracks were built heading West from what had become known as Berado's Station. Berado's would be renamed Holbrook by John W. Young in honor of H.R. Holbrook in 1882. Mr. Holbrook was the first Chief Engineer of the Atlantic & Pacific Railroad.
