Immigration and Migration in Arizona
Descriptive
DescriptionIn 2000, the foreign-born population of the United States was 31.1 million people, or 11.1% of the total population (census.gov). That same year, Arizona’s foreign-born population was 13.4% (0.9 million)--above the national average. Though the migrant and immigrant population continues to grow, there is much debate over the impact immigration has on Arizona’s economy and communities, and whether this impact was good or bad. Immigration across the state’s southern border is cause for concern for some citizens and local governments, sparking debate and legislation.Browse TopicImmigration and MigrationRace and Ethnicity
