Bashford was the first Attorney General of the Territory of Arizona, appointed by Governor Goodwin, serving from 1864 to 1866. He was also the President of the first Territorial Council (essentially the same as the Senate) in 1864. From 1867 to 1869, he was the Congressional delegate from Arizona Territory. In 1869, President Grant appointed Bashford as the Secretary of the Arizona Territory, a position he held until his resignation in 1876.
Bashford died in Prescott of heart disease and is buried in Mountain View Cemetery in Oakland, California.More InformationWikipedia
