On July 1, 1908, President Roosevelt made a proclamation to create the Apache National Forest and the Sitgreaves National Forest. The Apache National Forest is named after the tribe that settled the area. Springerville, Arizona, became the headquarters of the Apache National Forest. This collection contains mostly images and a few documents that were digitized from items found in the Forest Service Archive in Springerville, Arizona. Images include logging operations, CCC camps, recreation, forest fires, and much more.
