The Voice of Arizona

According to the May 15, 1886 issue, The Voice of Arizona was "Dedicated to the best interests of Arizona" and was focused on the "...protection of the merchant trade...". The newspaper was published by Arthur II. Elliott in Casa Grande, Arizona, and was published weekly, making it likely that the newspaper started in 1885. Coverage in the newspaper included that of the Pinal County Board of Supervisors' activities, mining, and business activities. Advertisements and descriptions of local businesses were also included as were lists of state and local officials. The May 15, 1886 issue was particularly proud and protective of the silver mines within Pinal County. Of note are the flourishes in the different fonts and typography not typically seen in newspapers of the time as was the paper color.
