Youngtown News and Sun City Sun

The Youngtown News became The Youngtown News and Sun City Sun in 1960, after the establishment of Sun City. Sun City was named as such after a national naming competition was held and the name was submitted by an E.A. Britton from Eugene, Oregon. Part of the prize was a home located in Sun City, and this made front page news on the first issue of the newly renamed paper. Its aim was “as people move into the project, their comings and goings will be reported in the same manner that has made the NEWS a successful advertising and news medium for Youngtown.” While only published under this title for one year, the paper featured its regular coverage of community news and events.
