Portal-Rodeo Stories is a collection of oral histories recorded in video and audio format from people who have lived in the Portal, Arizona and Rodeo, New Mexico communities.
These recordings began in 2017 and are ongoing. Topics covered include how people came to this area, how they lived here, activities of local community groups and events, local organizations and residents, what makes the area special, and more.
This initial work on this project was supported by the Arizona State Library, Archives & Public Records, a division of the Secretary of State, with federal funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Since the completion of the grant period, the project has been continued by volunteers.
