CreatorJ. O. TeagueDescriptionThis report from the Glendale Public Library was submitted to the Mayor and City Council in 1937. This document was a request for an increased library budget and a much needed expansion to the building. The document used statistics to show increased patron usage and programming. At the time Glendale Library increased their users to approximately 1,328; presently we have almost 200,000. Also in the library's early history, the Summer Reading Program was known as the Vacation Reading Club. The books were in poor condition, as was the building. Soon after this report, in August 1937, the library received a federal grant for $4909 and a federal loan of $6000 to expand the library.Browse TopicCommunity GroupsGovernment and PoliticsSubjectLibrarians--Glendale (Ariz.)Libraries--Glendale (Ariz.)Date Original1937-07-02Date Range1930s (1930-1939)TypeTextOriginal FormatReportsLanguageEnglishContributing InstitutionGlendale Public LibraryCollectionGlendale Public Library HistoryRights StatementProperty of Glendale Public Library.
