Built in 1908 to replace the Yuma Territorial Prison, ASP-Florence is one of 13 prison facilities operated by the Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation, & Reentry. In 2020, Governor Doug Ducey announced that ASP-Florence would be closed and inmates relocated due to costly repairs and maintenance required.
